Office Policies

Insurance and payment

Dr. Sharpe is an out-of-network provider and does not participate in insurance plans. Working outside the insurance system lets him build a treatment plan around your condition rather than around an insurer’s pre-set protocols.

Payment is due at the time of service. After each appointment you’ll receive an itemized receipt that you can submit to your insurer for any out-of-network reimbursement, use with an HSA or FSA, or keep for your records if you claim the medical-expense deduction on your federal tax return.

HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices

Dr. Sharpe maintains a Notice of Privacy Practices describing how your protected health information may be used and disclosed and your rights regarding that information under HIPAA. To request a copy, please contact the office at 615-284-3850.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get reimbursed by my insurance?

Many plans reimburse a portion of out-of-network psychiatric care. Submit the itemized receipt you receive after each visit to your insurer. Coverage varies by plan, so check your out-of-network mental health benefits before your first appointment.

Can I use an HSA or FSA?

Yes. Psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and psychotherapy are qualified medical expenses. Use the itemized receipt as documentation.

Does the practice treat patients under 18?

No. Dr. Sharpe treats adults ages 18 and up.
